NEST Edutourism: Empowering Students through Science and Innovation

Cyberjaya – From October 15 to 24, 2023, an impactful NEST Edutourism program unfolded, bringing together 11 enthusiastic secondary school students from Thailand. This initiative, a collaborative effort between Leave a Nest Malaysia and Young STEM & Entrepreneur from Thailand, aimed to revolutionize learning experiences by immersing students in the forefront of science and technology advancements in Malaysia.

The program's core objectives were to offer a transformative journey for students through:

  1. Interactive Workshops & Hands-on Activities
  2. Knowledge Enrichment via Visits to Leading Scientific Institutions & Tech Companies
  3. Fostering Collaborative Mindsets among Student Participants

From October 15 to 18, 2023, students delved into immersive experiences at MJIIT-UTMKL, partaking in science workshops and laboratory tours. These included sessions on electronics and hands-on soldering by Leave a Nest, 3D Printing & Augmented Reality by MyCRO, and Robotics by Airlytic. They also had the privilege of exploring cutting-edge research laboratories such as Advanced Precision Lab and the Algae and Biomass Research Lab.

Venturing beyond academic realms, participants visited the Royal Selangor Visitor Center and experienced the vibrant atmosphere of KLCC before proceeding to Cyberjaya. Here, they were introduced to the Center of Garage Malaysia and engaged with startups and partners within the Leave a Nest ecosystem, such as Move Robotic, TrackerHero, and Aerodyne. They also visited Multimedia University at Cyberjaya for the exposure to engineering and design arts courses.

Culminating the journey, on October 23 and 24, 2023, students took part in the prestigious Science Castle Asia, a student summit uniting bright minds from Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, Japan, and Indonesia.

NEST Edutourism stands as a testament to the power of experiential learning, igniting curiosity, and fostering collaboration among the next generation of innovators and leaders.
